As product teams race to integrate AI into their products, many experiences still feel bolted on — disconnected, generic, slow, inaccurate, and wasteful. Users are left carrying the burden, meticulously articulating their intent to AI interfaces that often fail to meet expectations.
In this hands-on workshop, Vitaly explored emerging design patterns for better AI experiences — from daemons and clustering to style lenses, structured presets, agentic UX patterns, dynamic editing, and temperature controls. Participants also learned a practical design process to integrate AI more reliably, increase trust, and create meaningful user value.

AI interfaces can go far beyond simple text prompts. In this workshop with Vitaly Friedman — senior UX consultant with the European Parliament and creative lead of Smashing Magazine — participants explored emerging design patterns, UX guidelines, and hundreds of real-life AI interface examples.
Together, they examined how to help users find answers and get work done better and faster — through improved scoping, style lenses, clustering, recommendations, feedback loops, and a wide range of advanced interaction patterns designed to make AI more useful and reliable.
This workshop brought together interface designers, front-end designers, and developers eager to design interfaces that help users get the most out of AI systems.
Participants walked away with a practical toolbox of techniques and inspiring examples to apply in their own products — whether on websites, desktop applications, or mobile apps — enabling them to design AI experiences that feel intentional, usable, and trustworthy.

This wasn’t a workshop about how to use Midjourney, ChatGPT, or other AI tools. Instead, it focused on how to design better AI experiences — ones that don’t feel generic, disconnected, or painfully slow to interact with.
Participants explored how to apply strong design patterns and a structured design process to AI-enhanced products. They left with a practical toolbox of techniques to help users truly benefit from AI — not just use it, but experience it in a way that feels intentional, efficient, and trustworthy.
You’ll need to bring a lot of creativity with your preferred coffee mug. We’ll be spending a lot of time drawing, sketching, designing and thinking.Be ready to challenge your general view of the AI design process and how our interface should look like. You’ll need a lot of sleep reserves since it’s going to be a packed day. Bring a lot of attention to detail and non-standard thinking to this one! ;-)

📅 Date: 18th November 2025

⏳ Duration: 09:00 – 17:00
The workshop started with a warm welcome and introduction, setting the stage for a deep dive into AI interface design.
The morning session focused on emerging AI UX patterns, real-world examples, and practical frameworks to rethink how AI is integrated into digital products. After lunch, participants moved into interactive group work and brainstorm sessions — applying new concepts to real product scenarios and exploring more advanced patterns together. The day wrapped up with a final deep-dive session and collective reflections on designing AI systems that are reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely helpful.
Evening Meetup & Community SessionFor those who stayed, the day continued with an open community meetup and networking evening.Vitaly delivered an inspiring talk, “You Will Not Be Replaced by AI”, followed by a live Q&A and informal drinks. It was a space for honest conversations about the future of design, AI, and the evolving role of product teams — ending the day on a thoughtful and energising note.

Vitaly Friedman loves beautiful content and doesn’t like to give in easily. When he is not writing or speaking at a conference, he’s most probably running front-end/UX workshops and webinars. He loves solving complex UX, front-end and performance problems.
AI isn’t slowing down. Neither are we.
